H2i presents insights into AEM technology for the first time

On 25 September 2025, H2i presented insights into the ongoing development of its AEM technology to the public for the first time at the 8th Industry Workshop Advanced Alkaline Electrolysis at the renowned Fraunhofer IFAM in Dresden.
Under the title ‘Six Years of Innovation Towards Market-Ready AEM Electrolysis,’ our CTO, Dr. Dietmar Neubacher, spoke to an international audience of experts both on-site and online. Participants were given a virtual tour of our infrastructure at the development site in Graz and detailed insights into the sophisticated test environment at the cell and stack level.
Current advances in membrane electrode assemblies, cell stacks and system units attracted particular interest, receiving widespread recognition and positive feedback. H2i now has more than five years of experience in operating AEM systems and has accumulated tens of thousands of test hours during this time – a decisive advantage for the further development of the technology.
Another focus of the presentation was on upcoming milestones: certification of the current stack generation is scheduled for early 2026, after which it will be available for initial pilot applications. At the same time, production capacity is being systematically expanded with the aim of achieving series production of up to 10,000 stacks per year by 2027.
The presentation made it clear that H2i wants to set new standards for the future of green hydrogen production. At the end, we announced that we are currently looking for partners for pilot plants on an industrial scale. Interested companies are welcome to get in touch via the contact form.
We look forward to receiving your enquiry and will be happy to provide you with further information.
