H2i and STIWA: a long-standing partnership on the road to series production

Since 2022, H2i has been working with STIWA, a specialist in automation and industrial manufacturing, to industrialize its AEM electrolysis technology. H2i develops the H2i-AEM-Core – the heart of our electrolysis technology – and is responsible for technology, design and product; all product and technology rights remain with H2i. On behalf of H2i, STIWA implements the automated manufacturing processes for series production.

From the H2i-AEM-Core to the ready-to-install H2i-POWERPACK

The next step is automated series production. Going forward, STIWA will manufacture for H2i not only individual cores but the fully assembled and tested H2i-POWERPACK – four H2i-AEM-Cores on one manifold block, ready to install in the H2iVE-SKID.

Each H2i-POWERPACK produces 26 kg of green hydrogen per day. In the H2iVE-SKID, 24 of them work in six independent modules; the adaptive H2iVE operating strategy keeps output at 520 kg per day – even during module service.

‍

Built for series production

From the outset, the H2i-AEM-Core was developed for automated manufacturing to automotive standards, with a focus on high repeatability and precision, reliable sealing and low manufacturing costs. STIWA contributes its expertise in automated assembly and testing, ensuring reproducible quality as volumes grow.

‍

Quality assurance beyond regulatory requirements

Every H2i-AEM-Core and every H2i-POWERPACK undergoes comprehensive end-of-line testing at STIWA in accordance with H2i specifications that go beyond existing normative and regulatory requirements.

In parallel, H2i is actively involved in research and development to advance testing and quality standards, especially for AEM technology, for which specific standards are only now emerging.

‍

A strong industrialization partner

With STIWA, H2i has an experienced industrialization partner that turns our technology into reproducible series production – a key step on the way from prototype to a market-ready series solutio

H2i and STIWA: a long-standing partnership on the road to series production

Since 2022, H2i and STIWA have been working together on the industrial manufacturing of the H2i-AEM-Core. Going forward, STIWA will deliver up to the fully assembled H2i-POWERPACK – including comprehensive end-of-line testing for quality assurance.

H2i presents insights into AEM technology for the first time

On 25 September 2025, H2i presented insights into the ongoing development of its AEM technology to the public for the first time at the 8th Industry Workshop Advanced Alkaline Electrolysis at the renowned Fraunhofer IFAM in Dresden.

New web and brand presence

In June 2024, our new website went live. The technical professionalism and agility of H2i was implemented in a modern way and great value was placed on user-friendliness.

Space for progress

In May 2024, the H2i development site in Graz was generously expanded. More than 230 m² of new office space and an expansion of the workshop and technical center now offer space for further, substantial growth.
